We all have a travel bucket list and, if you are anything like me, you are constantly adding new destinations. There are so many amazing, unique places to visit and so little time! I’m not going to make choosing your next trip any easier because today I am sharing three of my top bucket list destinations.
These are awesome places for adventure travellers to visit, whether it is hiking in the mountains, making a splash with a variety of water sports or exploring urban centres that gets your blood pumping.
I would be shocked if a trip down under wasn’t already on your list – Oz is a total adventure classic! However, there is so much to see and experience there that you can easily take three or four trips and still have things you want to do.
Top of my list is diving in the Great Barrier Reef and experiencing one of the most amazing underwater sights on the planet. Back on land, adventurers can take a walk in the bush and spot kangaroos in their natural habitats, witness ancient aboriginal cave art and spend some time happily eating and drinking in Australia’s bustling cities.
Morocco has a kind of enchanting atmosphere that is only made more magical when you begin to explore. Eat traditional tagine meals in the depths of an ancient souk, practise your French with locals and take stunning pictures of the beautiful medinas and mosques around the country.
There is no shortage of high-octane activities either – if you don’t count getting lost in Marrakech’s medina as one, that is. We are talking surfing, riding camels across sand dunes, camping the in desert and hiking in the Atlas Mountains.
When you plan your trip to Morocco, choose the time of year carefully. It gets so hot in the summer months that all you’ll want to do is shelter in the shade and take dips in the pool. Actually, on second thought, that doesn’t sound so bad.
Seeking adventure doesn’t necessarily mean catching a long-haul flight. Switzerland is ideal for a spontaneous week in the snow. The Alps are great for powder hounds, offering snowboarding, skiing, paragliding and even good old-fashioned hiking. In the summer, hire bikes and explore the beautiful Swiss countryside – imagine lush valleys, crystal clear lakes and charming meadows beneath the striking Alpine peaks.
